Fakenham Town are out of the FA Vase after going down 3-1 at Eynesbury Rovers in the second qualifying round, writes Tony Miles.
The hosts had scored twice before Kyle Plumb netted for the Ghosts just before half-time and despite dominating the second half Fakenham couldn’t get back level and it was Eynesbury who scored again. Ghosts manager Robbie Harris said: “Again it was a case of individual errors, and all three goals were really bad goals on our part.
“The first a backpass that never reached its destination, the second we had chances to clear but didn’t take them, and the third we’ve been caught in possession and paid the price.”
Fakenham, who hosted Swaffham in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division after the paper had gone to print last night, visit Clacton on Saturday before welcoming Ely in the League Cup on Wednesday.
Fakenham’s reserves lost on Saturday (2-2, 3-2 on penalties) against Cromer Town’s second-string in the Norfolk Junior Cup while the ladies got their first win of the season by beating Bungay 5-1.
