Fakenham Town remain rooted to the bottom of the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division table, writes Tony Miles.

Back-to-back wins had helped the Ghosts rise to 18th, but the weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Haverhill Rovers, coupled with the previous week’s postponement, means they’re back in an uncomfortably familiar position.

Fakenham manager Robbie Harris, who has been missing from the Fakenham dugout for the last two games (Haverhill, and the League Challenge Cup penalty shoot-out defeat at Downham Town) due to other commitments is still getting used to his first foray into management, is still enjoying the challenge at Clipbush Park.

“It’s been hard work so far, and my phone never stops ringing, but it’s all good fun, and something I’ve always wanted to do,” he said.

“I’ll be learning for years and years, but with the support I have around me, I’ll keep trying to learn and improve – and see where we go.”

Harris will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways with the visit of Newmarket Town this weekend and the memories of a 4-3 win still fresh in the Ghosts’ minds.

Having found themselves 3-0 down at half-time, they came back in the second half to take the points – with that being the last time Fakenham won (October 24).

The Ghosts’ second string had a free weekend, with their scheduled opposition playing a cup game instead. A friendly against Hindringham had been arranged for Tuesday night at Clipbush Park but it was postponed due to the weather. The reserves have no scheduled match for this weekend.

The ladies are in cup action on Sunday.

They travel to face Brandon Town – a team they lost heavily to earlier in the season.
