A Norfolk nursery has received a £1,000 boost from Tesco to help provide children with a better start to education.
Little Gillies, in Wells-next-the-Sea, was one of the latest beneficiaries of the supermarket chain’s Stronger Starts scheme.
The money will help the nursery update its literacy and numeracy resources.
Little Gillies opened its doors one year ago, providing daycare for children aged three months to three years after the previous facility closed suddenly at the end of 2022.
The nursery’s trustee Fran Marshall said: "The past couple of years has been particularly hard but with the support of the staff, the local community and grants like this has allowed us to create a facility, not just for now but secure into the future."
The Stronger Starts scheme offers grants to schools and children’s groups to provide nutritious food and support physical and mental wellbeing.
Since its launch, the initiative has given more than £115m to more than 65,000 projects across the UK.
This money was previously provided through the Tesco Bags of Help and Tesco Community Grants programmes.
