A charity event shared eerie tales of RAF ghosts.

Veterans Central at West Raynham Station Headquarters hosted the Ghostly Airfields and Superstitions event on October 26.

More than 140 visitors attended, touring parts of the building in small groups to hear a variety of RAF ghostly tales.

The atmospheric building was enhanced by selected lighting and sound effects, including aircraft engines and airmen chatting in a darkened room.

The appearance of a ghostly hand across the floor, an armed black shuck, slamming doors, and the Metheringham Lass all added to the effect of the stories.

The sudden appearance of an airman in full World War Two flying kit also sparked interest.

Four rooms in the headquarters were given additional atmosphere, and storytellers with helpers in each room shared a number of RAF tales.

The event was not a scare fest or ghost hunt; rather, it told RAF ghostly tales in memory of the thousands of RAF personnel who lost their lives in service.

Organisers said: “The stories of eerie events were haunting and well told by the volunteers.

"Anything that brings people to recognise the deaths of such brave young men has to be very worthwhile and its great that the charity serves to help the living now."

The event ran smoothly thanks to a team of hosts and floor walker guides who managed the movement of groups around the building.

Visitors also had time to enjoy hot dogs, cakes, and hot drinks in the café, with the catering team praised for their efforts.

The event not only raised donations to support the work of Veterans Central but also helped connect more veterans to the charity's community.

Organisers reported that several attendees, upon learning about Veterans Central, expressed their intention to bring their relatives, who are veterans, for a coffee at the centre.
