The reason why a stately home and park shut for six days this summer has finally been revealed. 

Holkham Hall, Holkham Park, all attractions and the Holkham Village Car Park were closed for a photoshoot from June 27 to July 2.

At the time, a spokesperson for the estate said they were sorry for any inconvenience caused but did not wish to comment further on the nature of the shoot.

It has now been revealed that luxury French fashion brand Celine was there to film a menswear fashion show.

It was posted to its YouTube channel, which has more than 150,000 subscribers, and in the description it says it was filmed at Holkham in June 2024.

Various locations in the hall and park were used for the video, directed by Hedi Slimane.

The Coke family has lived at Holkham since the early 17th century.

Holkham Hall, the Palladian-style mansion, was built by Thomas Coke, the first Earl of Leicester, between 1734 and 1764.

The 25,000-acre estate is now run by the eighth Earl, with businesses including farming, tourism and property.
