The government has given the thumbs-up on £9.9m improvements for Fakenham's leisure centre.
Jerome Mayhew, Broadland MP, shared he was "delighted that the government has confirmed its support for the new swimming pool and 3G pitch, and provided the money to turn this dream into a reality."
Initially an unexpected surprise, the project is an extension to the Trap Lane recreation ground and includes a 25-metre pool and new outdoor sports facilities.
The £11m project was announced in 2023, after a nine-year campaign for a new facility, following the closure of the Fakenham Academy pool.
It has since been welcomed by many in the market town, and is expected to be delivered by March 2026.
"It is now up to the team on the ground to get this fantastic new facility built and open as soon as possible," said Mr Mayhew.
"I will continue to work with NNDC to make sure that any barriers to delivery are cleared away."
