A Norfolk B&B, which was once the home of a chart-topping popstar, has been named one of the best places for a "truly unusual night's sleep".

The Times has rounded up 24 of the UK's quirkiest hotels and Cley Windmill in north Norfolk features. 

It was built in the early 19th century and there are nine B&B rooms at the site, plus a cottage with self-catering.

Three bedrooms are in the circular tower of the mill and the others are in the former store rooms, stables and miller’s accommodation.

The Times said: "Norfolk is, as we all know, very flat — so you don’t need to go too high up to get a good view.

"This old windmill near Cley next the Sea obliges handsomely, with charming rooms such as the Wheat Chamber or Wheel Room.

"They’re decorated in a quaint country style and as you’d expect there’s barely a square corner in the place."

Cley Windmill once belonged to the family of James Blunt, known for hits such as You're Beautiful and Goodbye My Lover, and the singer lived in what is now the Stone Room.
