Plans have been approved to gut a Barclays bank and remove its ATM following its closure.
North Norfolk District Council has approved an application for items to be removed from the former bank which closed in Fakenham earlier this year - including the ATM.
The application was submitted on September 6, a month before the branch formally closed its doors for good on October 6 - and was approved on December 13.
In documents supporting the application for the Grade II Listed building, it intends to remove existing external signage and branding, the ATM, and night-safe face plate, then seal the letterbox.
It will also remove the internal counters, furniture and low-level partition behind the counters.
The document says: “The proposed works are intended to return the building to pre-Barclays occupation as much as it is possible preserving the listed building status.”
After the bank was closed, a new service, dubbed 'Barclays Local', was announced. It meant bank employees would be at Fakenham Community Centre in Oak Street four days a week to answer "day-to-day banking queries" and help with managing money.
