A hairdresser with experience on film sets and a barber who has cut hair across the country are opening a new business.
Undefined Hair Space, founded by Thomas Bowden and Lauren Thompson, will open in Oak, Street, Fakenham on December 18.
The business will offer a range of services from cuts and beard trims to extensions and colouring.
Mr Bowden is originally from the market town. He met Miss Thompson in Bath, at the time she was working on the BBC drama, Poldark, in 2016. They had planned to open a business in Manchester back in 2020. But after a pandemic and being stuck inside the city centre apartment, they wanted somewhere else.
“We knew when we had our son we wanted him to have what Thomas had, to be outside and close to the coast,” Miss Thompson said.
“We’ve been here since last summer, and it was a hunt for the right premises, and recently everything just began falling into place when we found the unit on Oak Street.
“We’ve always wanted to have a business together. We have so much passion for the industry and so much experience.”
They are going into a competitive market as there are at least a dozen hairdressers or barbers already operating in Fakenham.
But the duo wants to offer a different experience to the others, and not take business away from them.
“We are not here to take anyone else’s business, we want to bring more people into the town,” Miss Thompson said.
“We are appointment only, we provide things like extensions and cutthroat shaves. From my background in TV, I have a real strength in total transformation. I also have international clients who will fly from the USA and Europe to see me.”
During the shop’s first week the pair are offering free cuts - additional items, such as a beard trim, can be included for a charge.
Prices appointment booking, and more details can be found on their website, www.undefinedhairspace.com, which will go live shortly
