You could be a princess, a pirate, a toy spaceman or just about a thousand other things. 

And anyone who dresses up as a Disney character as part of very special party will have earned themselves a tasty treat.

Drifters Fish and Chips in Fakenham is planning to offer anyone in fancy dress a free small sausage and chips on Friday (August 4) as part of the celebrations marking little Elsie Gooderson's seventh birthday. 

Around 50 businesses and dozens of people have jumped on board with the plan to transform the town into Disneyland and make a dream come true for Elsie, who is battling a rare illness.

Rebecca Gooderson, Elsie's mum, said: “We are so moved by the kindness and overall excitement that we've felt from everybody that we've spoken to and who is now involved.

“I've had phone calls with most of the managers within the town and all were not only keen to get on board but they also remembered Elsie from our previous Disney Day [in [2021] and asked for updates on her health and are generally looking forward to meeting her."

Elsie was born with Kagami Ogata syndrome which means her ribs never fully developed and are the shape of coat hangers, hooking around and crushing her lungs.

“As always we couldn't be prouder of our town and the sense of community we feel within it.”

Elsie's family plans to take her to meet people in town before enjoying a Disney-themed meal courtesy of the Running Horse pub.

Town centre shops will be decorated to match the Disney theme and staff will be in fancy dress.

Some will be offering giveaways, including Drifters, who are running their free food offer from 11.30am and 2.30pm.
