A group of young filmmakers has produced an award-winning movie about online safety.

The Year Five and Six children from Burnham Market Primary School planned storyboards, made props and animated scenes for the film before acting in the production.

Seven of the children who featured in the film attended the finals of the British Film Institute (BFI) awards in London on July 4, where they were announced the winners.

Ashley Williams, a teacher at Burnham Market, said: “BFI said the Burnham Market film stood out for its creativity, clear story and its entertainment value, adding that the children were clearly having fun making the film which added to the final effect.”

Childnet, which works to make the internet a safe place for children, invited schools from all over the country to produce a two-minute film on the theme of ‘time to talk! How can people support each other online'.

Rachel Stroulger, headteacher, added: “I am the happiest headteacher ever. 

"I had tears in my eyes, I was so proud."
